Canadian Soprano, Tracie Skeet-Brook, is a unique, passionate performer with the vocal flexibility and power to sing Spinto, Light Dramatic and Full Dramatic Coloratura repertoire. She is known equally for her interpretation, acting abilities and bel canto style of the operatic repertoire of Verdi, Donizetti, Bellini, Rossini, Cilea, Handel, Wagner, R.Strauss, Tchaikovsky, Dvořák, Massenet, Britten, Beethoven, Mozart, Handel and many more. She also has the ability to perform the Musical Theatre stylings of Sondheim, Bernstein, Lloyd Webber, Kander and Ebb, Gershwin, Berlin and Ellington. Currently she is adding more dramatic coloratura roles to her repertoire from such operas as ll trovatore, La traviata, Ernani, Lucia di Lammermoor, Lucrezia Borgia, Beatrice di Tenda and more. She takes great pride performing German Lieder and French mélodies from such fine composers as Strauss, Mahler, Schumann, Schubert, Fauré, Debussy, Gounod, Bizet and Berlioz as well as the Italian bel canto art song stylings. Tracie also has a love of presenting traditional Celtic music in different styles both vocally as well as showcasing a variety of instruments.
Tracie produces, directs, and stars in a regularlyperformed Musical Theatre Revue and Operatic concert series. Some of her recent productions included arias, duets and trios set to a narration from such operas as Il trovatore, Lucrezia Borgia, Beatrice di Tenda, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Der Freischütz, Un Ballo in Maschera, Il Corsaro, Le Cid, Lucia di Lammermoor, Mefistofele , Aida, Adriana Lecouvreur, The Queen of Spades, Norma, Die tote Stadt, La bohème, La traviata, Lakmé and Les contes d’Hoffmann. Some of her past opera, musical theatre, and play credits include: Fortuna ( L’incoronazione di Poppea) , Marschallin (Der Rosenkavalier), Countess (Le nozze di Figaro), Senta (Der fliegende Holländer), Micaëla (Carmen), Mrs. Johnstone (Blood Brothers), Witch (Into the Woods), Philia (A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum), Sister Mary Amnesia (Nunsense), Templeton the Rat (Charlotte’s Web), Cinderella (Cinderella), Cora (Calendar Girls), Helga (Anyone for Breakfast), Barbara Smith (Run for Your Wife), Jenny Corell (A Gentleman and a Scoundrel), Florence (The Odd Couple -female version), and Kitty Verdun (Charley’s Aunt). She has also been a chorus member and choreographer for productions such as Les contes d’Hoffmann, Die Fledermaus, La traviata, Carmen, Annie Get Your Gun, Brigadoon, South Pacific, The King and I and Hans Christian Anderson. Tracie holds a Bachelor of Music specializing in Opera Performance (VancouverAcademy of Music) and a Diploma in Music (Capilano University). She has participated in numerous programs and workshops throughout Canada, NYC and Austria including Opera NUOVA’s one-week intensive, Opera workshops at the Alberta College Conservatory of Music, the Summer Vocal Arts Festival studying the German Lied, The Vocal Arts Institute of Alberta Symposium, the Mahler Festival Academy in Vienna, Austria, and attended the Academia Vocalis Masterclasses with Grace Bumbry in Wörgl, Austria. In 2013, Tracie performed and studied in Vienna and Wörgl, Austria. She was also a semi-finalist for the Leo Slezak International Singing Competition in Vienna. When not performing Tracie maintains an active teaching and adjudicating schedule. She also choreographs musical theatre solo and group routines for music festivals, has directed a teen and children’s show choir, teaches summer drama programs and is a beautician at her home salon. Her goal is to share her musical gifts by passing on the knowledge she has been taught through performing and teaching. |
